Technically, Collingwood is two neighbourhoods, Collingwood North and Collingwood South, and they are divided by 69th Ave. NW. The recreational opportunities are more plentiful in the north while shopping and dining can be found in the south.

Collingwood Park, in the north community, is the gem of the neighbourhood, with a spray park, off-leash dog area, a skateboard park, picnic facilities and sports fields. Also located in the park you find the Jamie Platz Family YMCA, Callingwood Twin Arenas and the Lois Hole Library. Once a year, neighbours turn out for the annual Kites Over Callingwood Festival, held right here in Collingwood Park.

Just east of the park is Collingwood Medical Clinic and several fast-food restaurants.

Shopping and dining can be had in the northwest corner of Collingwood South, at The Marketplace at Collingwood. This is an outdoor shopping centre, offering more than 70 retail shops and services. The Callingwood Farmers Market is located here as well, open Saturdays starting in May each year.
