Old Strathcona – it’s where Edmonton comes to play and part of Queen Alexandra (the northern section specifically) is part of this arts, entertainment and shopping hub. Here you’ll find an array of theaters, shops, restaurants and bars. But, it’s the live theatre venues that are the major attraction. A total of nine theatre companies operate here, offering locals and visitors alike the chance to enjoy a variety of live theatre presentations.
The South Side Arena is known as one of Edmonton’s best ice skating rinks and it’s located southwest of the high school.
Schools in Queen Alexandra
Unlike many of Edmonton’s newer neighbourhoods, Queen Alexandra is blessed to have a number of schools within the community’s borders. Public schools include Queen Alexandra School, serving students in grades Kindergarten through 6 and Strathcona High School, which teaches students in grades 10 through 12.
The one private school in Queen Alexandra is Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, which is a Catholic elementary and junior high school.
